Schweighofer Fiber GmbH

Schweighofer Fiber GmbH is part of the Austrian Schweighofer Group. Its core business is the efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly use of wood as a raw material to produce high-quality viscose pulp and bio energy. The Hallein site (approximately 15 km south of the city of Salzburg) employs 230 people.

Schweighofer Fiber GmbH takes a great deal of responsibility for the environment and means of livelihood for current and future generations. Over the last 20 years, more than 200 million Euros have been invested in environmental measures at the Hallein site. Ecological sustainability is also at the forefront of further development at the plant.

The key aspects are:

  • Increasing energy efficiency
  • Reducing electricity and heat consumption within the plant
  • Using 100% biogenic fuels
  • Developing biogenic energy production
  • Increasing creation of value from the production of cellulose
